Window Seat by Fallen Penny

This is the last song on the album. An acoustic stripped down song that took all of 10 minutes to record, added some piano later on. At this point your ears will have been assaulted by so many different things that we hope it's a good little nightcap to sign off from the completed album :)

Every time that I look at that is every time that I wanna leave... Waking up to the city here is like a nightmare from a dream...

The title track of the 2nd album! It started off with Weaver's guitar riff, and ended up an 11 minute epic with 3 guitar solos, a drum solo, a trancey end bit, and train station noises. How? Dunno. It's psychedelic, noisy, calm and chaotic. What's concerning is that when I wrote the lyrics I had no idea I would move to London in less than 3 months. So it's kind of prophetic too...

Helping Hand by Fallen Penny

I turned all the corners I can find.... but all the doors lead back inside. Are the stones already laid? Are the roads already paved?

Frustration, emotion, can't say what I want, am I destined to fuck up relationships?

Originally the song was acoustic based, then it went electric, then the recording returned to a place in the middle. I love the pounding drums at the end, has a lot of power now.

Need To Be Found

You sat there, head in between your knees there, said something I couldn't hear - but something about lost love. You looked up bruised and dazed, then I heard you say "How can you live, when all you have is gone...."

This song comes out of the dustiest pages of my songwriting book, written when I was in the army believe it or not. Yes, squaddies have emotions too... It's kind of like talking to yourself in the mirror. We never really finished the recording properly hear so some extra loops and keys fill out the sound nicely.

Oh I've never been so high like when we were alone in Santa Monica...

I make no secret of it - California is my favourite place on the planet. This song is also another re-incarnation of an older tune called "Let Me Be Free". It used to be pop, now it's pop-punk at 172BPM and Florian's awesome guitar solo. It's almost too fast to play but it gets everyone going.

Who Am I by Fallen Penny

It's an easy game when you're free from blame when the weak can't play

First attempt at songwriting together in the practice room. Weaver came up with most of the guitar riffs here and it's at the top of the aggressiveness chart where FP is concerned!

Another song about "the man" I guess. Good fun to play live :)

Florian's guitar riff just ripped the practice room apart when he played it the first time. On remixing I added an organ behind it to fill out the sound. The opener of the Cities album and every live show.

Cities - 2nd Fallen Penny album remixed

After some deliberating and upgrades of computers, softwares etc... I decided I wasn't too happy with the album and it needed some more work. Between finishing recording and mixing, the band got split into 3 different countries - two of us now in the UK, the other guys in Germany. The first album, Too Busy Waiting, was always cool, but Cities left something to be desired.

I got down to it and re-recorded guitar parts to most of the songs, and added some loops/piano parts to some others, to fill it out a bit. With the help of some awesome new plugins and Native Instruments Komplete, I'm finally happy with it! So it's a re-release, 11 tracks:
